Teen Driver Education

The highest rate of accidents occurs with teenage drivers. Our goal is to make our students the smartest drivers on the road. Our Driving Education Program will help perfect our teens driving skills. We provide driver education course and behind the wheel driver training under the direction of a State licensed instructor.

We take driving seriously and we will ensure that that our students understand that driving is a privilege and not a right. Our State approved curriculum will ensure that our students become responsible drivers.

Who Should take this Course:

  • Teen must be 3 months away from their 15th birthday and under 18 years old.
  • Teen must have a legal status in the U.S.

What Teen Driver Education Comprises:

  • 32 Hours of classroom instruction
  • 14 hours of Behind-the wheel instruction (7 hours driving and 7 hours observation)
  • Learners Permit test based on Texas drivers Handbook
  • Certificate issued for learners permit
  • Certificate issued for Drivers License (after completion of Program)
  • Insurance Discount

Students who are 16 years old, have completed their Driver Education Program and have held their learners permit for 6-months can schedule for the Road test.

Our next Teen Driver Education Program (Classroom instructions) will start on May 04, 2017 and end on May 26, 2017. Classes are from 5pm -7pm, Monday through Friday. 

Students should note that behind the wheel and classroom instructions can be completed concurrently as soon as the student has obtained their learners permit.

New Law: Starting September 1, 2015 all driver license applicants (ages 16-24) who have successfully completed a Teen Driver Education Course (32 classroom hours / 44 hours behind the wheel) and have been issued a DE-964 are required take the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) course before being administered a driving skills examination.

ITTD is a free 2 hour informational video that is available through a Third Party Skills Testing (TPST) authorized school or the Department’s Impact Texas Teen Drivers website:


Upon completion of the ITTD program teenagers will receive a Certificate of Completion that must be presented prior to administering the road test at DPS.

 The Price for the Teen Drivier Education is $450.00. Register before the day of class for discounted price of $425.00.
